OVERVIEW

Floohoo Travels offer you the best Kerala Tour Packages which includes Tea Museum & Tea Factory. Choose from a wide range of tour packages based on your interests If you’ve ever wondered how your daily tea is made, you should make a tea factory visit located only a short walk to the northwest of Munnar town. Conceived of and run by Tata Tea, the tour of the Tea Museum gives you an intimate view of tea-making in the area, beginning from its humble beginnings in the early 1900’s to present day.
Sepia-tinted photographs, machinery new and old, even early office and home equipment take you through the years of this flourishing industry: from the struggles of the hardy early pioneers, through the various turning points in tea making, to the modern day fully automated factory.
Some of the featured historic equipment includes the ‘Rotorvane’ – a quaint original tea roller from 1905 used in CTC tea processing, as well as the early 'Pelton Wheel' that helped produce electricity at the power plant. Guests are also invited to check out the Kundale Valley Light Railway – a 1920’s rail engine wheel that shuttled men and material between Munnar and Top Station in that early era.
Another section of the Tea Museum houses classic bungalow furniture, a wooden bathtub, a magneto phone, and an iron oven, in addition to office mainstays like typewriters, manual calculators, and even the EPABX of the local telephone system of 1909.
Guests have the opportunity to taste a wide variety of tea in the Demonstration Room while a 30-minute video presentation plays every hour that explains the history of Munnar, its tea estates, and the programs put in place for its workers.

All of this without even mentioning the picturesque setting of the tea garden!
Soon you may even be able to pluck your own tea leaves and have them processed right before your eyes!
